Every girl has that little black dress they love. Mine is a velvet number I thought was a bargain for £12.99 in a sale. Well it was till today.
I took a gamble whilst feeling sorry for myself in bed the other night and ordered a daring tulip style sweet heart dress from everything 5pounds. I mean what could I lose at this price. Well it arrived today and wow! I was shocked it was so short so when I tried it on I wasn't sure what to expect, however it got the wow reaction at home. The fabric is thick enough to be warm yet still elegant.
In all my time I have always related quality to price especially when it comes to important statement pieces in a girls wardrobe. But this truly proves me wrong. I have never spent so little and been so impressed by a product. Especially when I am not exactly the ideal size and shape for high end fashion.
All I can say is regardless of size it is worth a look. Sure you have to be quick on some items and it is worth checking daily. But for value in these uncertain times you could do a lot worse than shop at everything5pounds.com .
A diary of thoughts, questions and happenings from a person living with chronic illnesses. I have a passion for motosports, fashion and beauty, but most of all life. This blog will cover many things and be varied in its contents.

Top Gear Live ( motor sport post)
It was the annual pilgrimage time. This time to Glasgow and the new Hydro centre. I was keen to see the show as it was a stadium programme rather than the NEC event. So we were treated to a longer show and no exhibition.
The Saturday show was lined up and it was nice to go to a venue that was disabled friendly, no stairs or awkwardness. In fact we had our own entrance to the venue. On the down side getting to the merchandise stall was hell due to the sea of people, and when we got there the limited stock and lack of product's including programme was disappointing. . However this was the only grumble.
It was nice to have a clear view and find the seating more like those of years back where you were actually able to see the stars close up. The fuel filled 90 minutes didn't disappoint either consisting of the highlights of the past 7 years. It was gull of the terrible trio and their chaotic reign of cocking about. Pausing occasionally for professional stunt work, future highlights and a highlights of the late Colin McCrea. All in all a loud mad show true to form. There were a few bits i would have loved to see included but if you had never seen the show before you would be none the wiser. I accept the venue wasn't suitable for either the FMX or drifting but the splat a rat would have been a nice addition. But like I said that's only my opinion based on 7 years of viewing the live shows in other venues.
The Sunday show was even slicker if that was possible. It seemed to flow even smoother and have just that bit more humour. As usual there was some ad libbing and the occasional slip but nothing that stalled the show. It is a good way to see the boys natural chemistry and their experience in live performance. Although will some one please remind James which way the audience is!
All in all it was an excellent weekend of shows and as usual the weekend ended with the high of petrol fumes and burnt rubber. I can't wait till the new set of shows and if my lottery numbers come up any time soon I will be off to one of the other countries they are touring.Barbados sounds good to me

Don't forget the little people ( fashion post)
I guess it is because I am from a village that I am more passionate than some about supporting the local businesses. We regularly attention farmers markets and half my Christmas presents came from our local frost fair. In the same way I am always looking for the smaller businesses online. This month I can recommend two.
http://www.kukee.co.uk/ is a jewellery site with plenty of gem stones and unusual pieces. I ordered two necklaces bith with different gemstones than usual. Within a week I eagerly opened my little parcel and was more than delighted with my purchase. None were more than £8 each yet their quality doesn't show this. I love the originally of these pieces and can't wait to place my order.
The other is Funkydory available via twitter on @xxfunkydoryxx . Here I got myself two scarfs for £5 each. For fast service you can't beat them and the scarfs are beautifu. I found a lovely pink and black click print one and a thicker glitter one. Both were a good size snd again good quality. Again I will be ordering again and I have a feeling a lot of people will be getting presents from them.
So these are my first choices of the new year, and I am hoping to give some other independent businesses a write up next month..

Count down till Glasgow (motor sport post)
I doubt I am the only person who at the moment has was is commonly known as Top Gear brain. Its only 3 days away and I am no where near ready. At this very moment I am simultaneously writing this and yelling at my husband to get the suitcase out the loft. Subsequently he has asked the million dollar question, what is so special about Top Gear?
If I knew the answer I along with probably many producers would bottle and sell it. For I don't really remember a time when Top Gear wasn't part if my life. From an infant I remember it being weekly viewing with out fail. Then when it was revamped my flat mate reminded me of my petrol addiction. Over the years thanks to the programme I have ended up travelling over the country seeing various events not just those involved in the programme but akso to support drivers we have since got to know and make friends with.
In fact since I started going to see the live show I now have a very full social diary and can honestly say made a few friends for life. That said it does come at a cost and I don't just mean financial, as any one who knows auto sport will tell you. More than once I have had to witness the accidents that can occur and sat there with my heart in my mouth praying that it's not serious. But that's the nature of the beast and you have to realise that these people do know what thet are doing.
So with that in mind I am heading off to Scotland to start what is known in my house as silly season, which tends to run till October. It involves weekends living out of suitcases and very very early starts, in some cases getting up before the birds. But I wouldn't change it for the world, although I may consider buying shares in Starbucks and Red Bull as they are stables in the early hours.
All this down to one show presented by three middle aged men who refuse to grow up, not that we would want them to. Having meet them all, I think it is their natural chemistry and the accessibility to fans that is the answer. They aren't perfect or that of heart throb material, but people who love their work and sharing that enthusiastic energy. It is with that thought I will fall out of bed on Friday come rain or shine and get on a flight to the other end if this island, knowing from start to finish I will be caught up in this whirlwind known as Top Gear Live. I will kiss goodbye to sanity and sleep till Monday and enjoy every minute of it. Welcome the start of silly season, Now GET THAT SUITCASE OUT THE LOFT!

Time to lower the tone ( make up post)
I have to be honest I have several tried and tested styles of my make up. Maybe because I am not an everyday wearer but once I find something that suits me I tend to stick with it. I am actually braver with my eye make up than anything, so a radical change of lipstick is almost enough to give me a panic attack.
That was until Collection brought out 3 very tempting shades. Now there has always been an inner Gothic punk underneath this meek surroundings, so a Gothic range was enough to wake my inner person. Now as I seem to have a very extensive rainbow in eye and nail wear I became drawn to the lipsticks. There is a choice of no1 seduction a dark berry red no 2 scorned almost black and no 3 revenge a deep plum brown. Needless to say at £2.99 all 3 were purchased from superdrug on line and in my paws within 3 days.
Now I don't know what I expected for the price but I am more than delighted with the colour and feel of these. The only downside is the fact I tend to touch my mouth a lot and I found this out but the colour all over my hands so i must remember to seal the colour with some translucent powder. But I think that's the only issue and so I have to move these colours into my rate them pile.
Brings a whole new meaning to the saying welcome to the dark side.

How much? (fashion post)
It's that time of year when not only are finances are low but wardrobes need replenishing. For me it's nearly always boots and jumpers that always need a restock. Now both of these can be expensive items and I always seem to ruin them within 12 months. So you can imagine my delight at finding a site that does it for £5 an item.
Now I will be honest and admit I was suspicious of the quality so I tried them out with basics like hats and bags. That quickly became an addiction and I now have a hat and bag for every season. Even the current fashion if satchels is covered. So I moved on to shoe's and also found they had everything from fleece lined trainers with snow grip to skyscraper heels. So I bite the bullet and I bought jeans leggings dresses and tops. I even scored a military style jacket all for a £5 each. Now you don't get high end fashion but the quality isn't skimped, one jumper I have is la redoute labelled .
This site is amazing and I am convinced, even 18 + sizes are covered. Although you do have to be quick there have been times items sell out as you are ordering. So you need to be prepared to buy as you see. That said they re stock daily 7 days a week so its worth logging in every day around lunchtime.
The name of the site http://www.everything5pounds.com/arrivals-c-40.html it is worth a visit. Oh and they have a section for your other half ... valentines anyone?

New Year Old Problems ( CRPS Post )
I have really had enough of this weather and the fact that we are now promised snow and ice is enough to make me either become a bear and hibernate or go on a long hot holiday. Not because I am a sun worshipper or even hate the pretty sight of snow glistening. It is a the fact that since we have had this storm like weather the pain in my back and hips has been intolerable. It has got so bad today with the sudden drop in temperature that I have personally turned the air blue with Anglo Saxon and several other languages.
However that doesn't mean that I can get out of the jobs for the day like remove the Christmas decorations and wedding anniversary. And here lies the problem. Having attended the first of what is probably going to be many trips to the pain support clinic, they instructed me to stop working on the roller coaster of pain. What that means is I am not meant to over do it then suffer and know when to take it easy. That's brilliant in principle but I have a husband who just doesn't or won't understand. hence I am doing the Christmas decorations myself. Unfortunately the real world and the ideal world are two very different places.
So whilst I can't do a thing about the weather, the one thing I should be able to correct I can't. On top of this there is little more the doctor can do with pain medication with out comatose me, which will solve nothing. So it becomes a case of grit and bare it, whilst educating the neighbours of various insults in Czech, Hebrew and Cypriot. However this comes with its own issues, the fact that I actually do grit my teeth and in the process break already weakened teeth, so thanks to this bout of pain I have yet another trip to my dentist next Thursday to review this rounds damage. In fact I have got so much tension in my jaw I have caused swelling in my cheeks and currently the entire family are calling me a chipmunk.
All this has meant my 6th wedding anniversary comes courtesy of hubby's evening job, pizza and ice cream and guess who is on the ice cream.

The danger of online shopping (fashion and beauty post)
That's it I admit I have a chronic aversion to shopping in person so to speak and an addiction to on line shopping. Although I always claim that its the dangers of trying to manoeuvre with crutches but that's not the truth. Its the changing rooms, which suffer from one of a multiple list of problems, if it isn't the smell, its the evilly deceptive mirror, crafty lighting or worse still interfering attendants. With this is mind I attempted to work through mums evil shopping list with out leaving my nice warm sofa bed.
Alright some of the shopping was household as it started with Pyrex dish's and bodem coffee maker, but it did lead to some successful shopping. In Tescos I managed to get a lined varsity top for £8 instead of £16 so somehow that managed to be obtained along with the smoothie maker. (New years resolution to eat even more fruit and vegetables ).
Next on the list was cheap trainers for the allotment. Not that I really like cheap trainers, but I can not justify converse or DC's being trashed in a month whilst planting this years crop. For this mission I went to everything5pounds.com. Now this isn't high end fashion, but if you are fast on the clicking you can get some nice bargains here. Not only were several pairs of cheap trainers bought, there was also a military style coat, biker boots and leggings. I pity the poor postman as the parcel is going to be massive, as mum also found cotton jumpers in her plus size which is hard enough, but at a £5 unheard of. Even if you add in the postage for 10 items including boots the postage only added £11 to the £55 bill. So I count that as a good hour shopping. However I will point out we are not talking designer label, although one jumper I had bought there was blatantly labelled for La Redoute.
Next stop was snow boots. Now this is more a necessity for me as I find wellingtons to heavy for me and these are a perfect substitute. I have had two pairs over the years and tend to wear them to destruction. After a half hour search I found a pair on Ebay for £16 inc postage sent from the UK. Result as again these are less a fashion statement as a work tool. However whilst there I also found a few other little gems. Just before Christmas I got a handmade unique Gothic hat for £27 again from the UK and a burgundy derby hat for £5 from china. Both of which welcome additions
Finally came the dreaded belt search. Now I hate belts but due to a sudden but not appreciated weight lose none of my jeans stay up so mum demanded I do something about it as she was fed up of me having to pull them up. I have never really found belts I like but 5 minutes on ASOS and I found 3 I liked under £5 each, oh how I love sales. So they were added to the basket along with a wet look skirt, white stripped joggers and a top to die for, total £25 no postage and already on their way to me.
Now the purpose of this blog is not to brag I have a new wardrobe, but to point out this. I spent 2 hours on the PC with a list and a budget. Using google and a bit of common sense I came in under budget (even with the added items and smoothie maker), and didn't get cold and wet, bruised or annoyed. Instead I saved myself several hours and managed to sort out the kitchen.
However there is a downside to all this. Now I have achieved this, mum has had the wonderful idea I can do this for all her house renovation. nice in principle but the next item on the list on the list is a dinning chair suited for my back and unbreakable to my husband, pass me the brandy NOW.

Sometimes I could scream ( crps post )
To fight any chronic illness is wearing, to live in constant pain is enough to drive you insane, but to battle the government and the NHS at the same time is enough to turn a sane person into a lemming. To be blatantly honest we the weakened members of society are having to put up with conditions more suited to the times of Charles Dickens, in fact I stand by my thinking that the only reason this government hasn't returned us all to the work houses of times past is because they couldn't find any more of their university posse to take the job.
Seriously, if you have any long term medical condition you will know your life tends to have a lot of appointments. If it isn't with the doctor to see if there is any wonder drug they may have forgotten, its with your specialist who then books you in for yet more tests to check you still have kidneys after the latest drug scare. Now I have to another two lots of medicals to justify the government, one to work out if I am disabled, to which the doctor said if you read my records that is easily answered yes, and then another to work out if they can stick you in the grey area group who can't work but as you can answer a phone you can't be written off as unable to work, so they don't need to help you, but instead run your life by more appointments.
I don't need a diary, I need a P A just to work out where I am meant to be and why. Not to mention I thrown them a curve ball by daring to question their judgement, now they are so confused they did what came naturally and organised more meetings, then cancelled them all as they realised I would bring this up in the tribunal. All I know now is I am going to clinics in march and a tribunal in February and any time soon I am heading for new medicals and appointments as I haven't been told yet.
So as we enter a new year and continue our long term battle I wish you all this,
The patience to live through the stupidity,
The courage to brave the pain,
The strength to continue the battle
and the faith that one day the situation will improve for us all
In the meantime feel free to scream.

Can I smell petrol yet (motorsport)
OK it is a little early but the count down to Top Gear Live has well and truly started here. It marks the start of a fuel filled year. Provisionally I know I am off to Weston Super Mare and Goodwood as well. I am sure there will be more, but for now I am getting excited for the show whilst also feeling sick as I am flying to Glasgow for this.
Now for a car and bike nut I am a contradiction as I am terrified of both flying and boating. How I ever fly to America to see the in laws totally astounds me. I am so terrified of heights I feel sick at the thought of them. This is made even crazier when you think I have been to the top of the following, Canary Wharf, Eiffel Tower, Tower Bridge and the Ferris wheel in Vienna. But everyone involves the intake of a very medicinal brandies and in the case of Canary Wharf I was a limpet to the central column. So I am already dreading the flight in two weeks.
That said it will be worth it, as this is the first pure stadium show I have seen. For the last 5+ years I have made the pilgrimage to the NEC for TGLive with the full compliment of additional things like stalls and drifting. This time it is just the two days of watching the show. No doubt as per every other time I will drive my camera to a total meltdown, but I know I will enjoy it.
I am already at the what to panic part, and the where the hell is my suitcase is yell. But I know this is all trivial because when I get there it won't matter what jeans I am in or whether I packed my 2 inch or 3 inch heels. Although it being Glasgow I must remember a jumper. But what a way to start the new year than at TGLive. I am sure there will be plenty of tales to report back with, in the mean time I have to find that suitcase, any ideas?

Downpours and sales (fashion and beauty post)
I swore blind I was never going to do sale shopping ever, and how I wish I had kept to that motto. Last year by Internet I scored some lovely bargains. This year in person all I got was very very wet! Yet through total frustration I have agreed to go to London next week to replenish mothers wardrobe, heaven help me.
That said I did nip into the 99p store mainly to dry out, and managed to pick up an argan oil healing spray, something my wavy hair depends on. Now I know that's a bargain as my last lot cost me £12.99. So it is always worth a look if you are near a store. I have previously picked up 3 china glaze nail polishes for the same 99p .
I also nipped into the ever reliable Primart for some socks and as usual ended up walking out with a lot more. My two best buys from there are some fleece lined leggings for £6.99 and a double tee shirt top £5. Thus making my soggy adventure a bit more worthwhile. What did annoy me beyond measure was the lack of stock at my local Primart. For me to get what I need I have no choice but head up to the Marble Arch store which is a mission. The sooner Primart join the world of on line shopping the better as far as I am concerned.
Other on line shops that seem to have failed me this year are the Space NK and Asos beauty. Both had some brilliant offers last year but this year it all seems a little flat to me. Granted this is down to personal taste, but I can honestly say this year the sales have failed to impress me this year.
As for London I will let you know how that went once I recover from that little adventure, for now I need a hot bath and fluffy pjs.

Kandee Luxe selection (fashion and beauty post)
Its new season time in the house of Kandee, granted this is a few weeks late to post, but better late than never. As per usual they haven't failed to deliver a selection of seasonal delights. Although this season is a mix of glitter and fierce. Rather than writing a massive blog of each shoe or boot available I am going to only write about my top 3. Now I know there is a real mixture of over the knee heeled boots to spikes but my choices this season are a little more practical for the real world of day to day living.
In no special order my first boot of choice is Amor. Currently at £190 here http://www.kandeeshoes.com/e-boutique-c1/amor-p164
It is a snow leopard print heeled boot. Great for casual party wear and very seasonal in colour. Normally I am not a fan of animal print but this is enchanting and there is something subtle in this colour scheme. It is the type of statement boot that can lift an outfit from standard to quirky and that scores brownie points with me.
Next up is Kylie at £180 for here http://www.kandeeshoes.com/e-boutique-c1/kylie-p158 . This is a flat black boot with a mixture of hologram and sparkle. It takes the standard black boot that all girls have and makes it something hot. I can't wait to mix this up with jeans and a jacket to take a wardrobe favourite fresh into 2014.
And my final choice is Brooklyn again at £180 and found here http://www.kandeeshoes.com/e-boutique-c1/brooklyn-p157 Now these are the trainers I have dreamt of all my life. All covered with delicate sparkles, and just a few spikes for the added edge. Here Kandee has taken deluxe and made it street couture.
These are only my highlights of the collection, there are many more to choose from and I suggest you have a look. From flats to skyscraper's this season has a lot of variety, there is even a jump suit currently at £9.99 for those of you brave enough. All in all I would venture to say this is the best collection to date. Keep them coming Kandee, your sweetness is so tempting.

First steps into the new year
Now we have eaten the turkey and the Christmas tree has started to shed its needles everywhere, we reach the start of the new year. I hope you all were good enough for Santa to leave all you wished for and you aren't feeling too guilty for raiding the quality street. Most of all I hope the weather didn't ruin your festivities too badly. Due to the dreadful weather my Christmas was a little quieter not that I am complaining, it did save the endless exhaustion I usually suffer.
That said it has certainly been a memorable new year, we are all suffering from the delightful experience known as the British weather, I certainly can say we are all well washed in Britain at the moment. But I know we will battle through like the true island nation we are. Personally apart from chasing rubbish bins down the road and a fence at a 45 degree angle I can say we are lucky. If twitter is to be believed there will be a need for ark makers soon. I am not going to make light of others suffering with worse conditions but as I write this and watch the wind moving trees into unnatural angles, I am thinking it is an excellent physical metaphor for the priciples of new years resolutions. Every year thousands of us try to sweep the bad habits of the last year (s) away and start the year afresh, in a way so is our weather clearing the old for the new.
On that note I am trying to revamp this page, by dividing it into 3 so the different interests are covered. However as it too 2 hours to get this net book to boot up so please bare with me. So for the moment I will just try to be clear in the title line what is what. There is a guaranteed Top gear Live post this month as I am crazy enough to be flying to Glasgow to see the first shows of the year. There will also be a Kandee post in the next 48 hours. However if anyone wants to get a blog write up of their product please either comment or contact me via twitter as this year I want to try new things and live as much as I can.
As for my new year resolutions they are the following.
Cut down and hopefully quit smoking ( give me time)
Remember to cleanse tone and moisturise daily
Get this blog really working
the rest will come with time.
For now let me just wish you all a happy and healthy new year and I look forward to hearing from you.
