From the start I am not lover of celebrity perfumes. With the exception of may Britney Spears midnight fantasy, I find them either insipidly sweet or they come across like some cleaning product. In fact my likes in perfume are so limited I may just given an apex to them ..
With this in mind I was more than a little concerned with trying this limited edition. But with a hubby arm twist, and he offering to pick up the tab, it would have been rude not to. The little package arrived today and semi excitedly I opened it up. The bottle is cute enough in a quirky and cute, although as rule I am not doll lover, it has this whole Japanese feel to it. It is one of a whole range of Harajuku perfumes brought out by Gwen Stenfani, but it isn't packaged as a celebrity perfume. Now that was refreshing, as was the smell of the perfume itself. When applied you get an instantl blast of vanilla, but not a sickly scent. Then as it warms up I can smell water lilies. I would describe it as lightly feminine with out being over sweet.
I had a little read and found out it was made by Coty, a brand I love so I am now less surprised I like it. For once I have come across a perfume, marketed under the celebrity label that is a delight to wear and even worth the price tag. It is just a shame this is a limited edition and probably not around for much longer. I may have to twist hubby's arm and get him to buy another bottle and store it in the back of his wardrobe for next birthday.
After looking around I found there is more than one set of these perfumes. The trick is to choose which character in the range you like then, look for the other editions of that character. In my case I like the G character as I love vanilla based perfumes. So I may try out the Jingle G or the Lovers G, apparently the Wicked G or the G of the sea are more apple based The other G is sunshine cuties which I may look at. But there are other character Love, Music, Lil Angel and Baby, so there is a character for everyone I think.
I am not saying this will be your dream range and you will love them to death. But for a light every day perfume and a change from your day to day favourite, it is a nice change. During my little look around an inexpensive one as you can pick up bottles on ebay and discount fragrance sites for anything between £5 and £15. So if nothing else it would be a nice little gift..
