I am a dual personality when it come to clothes and shoes 90% of the time I am a complete tomboy and proud of it. I would live in trainers preferably converse or biker boots and be perfectly happy. But there is that 10% of me that will suddenly kick in and want to be all girly. When that emotion kicks in then heaven help every one as I go for short skirts or girly dresses and heels. But I wouldn't be happy in just any heels I am talking sparkly elaborate heels or boots. I always obey the order of either leg or cleavage, normally the former and the same with make up either eyes or lips, usually eyes. However what I really focus on is a good pair of heels. Mainly because they elongate my short legs and give me height. Something like this.
Now I know these aren't out yet but you get the idea. These are a pretty simple design in regards to shape but its the mixture of texture and colour that would catch the eye and give the optical illusion. Before anyone asks yes I did study art and design on a lower level amidst all my artist training. I may not be the best designer on earth, but I can understand the principles of colour and the use of texture to create effect. Hence my mind got working on this.
I will give you another example of how to make a shoe the statement piece in a stunning outfit.
These boots are perfect with the simple little black dress, even the more edgy of Gothic dresses. Its that flash of colour on the heel that makes it not just a boot, but something more, in my eyes art. Granted this wouldn't be every ones taste, however that just adds to my argument it art. By the basic fact it is controversial and people will either agree or disagree with my taste, is just the fundamental quality needed to make an item an art form.
I am not saying every piece of footwear is art or even every high end designer piece is art.. That said history has proved over the years, and by years I mean 100s of, clothes and footwear have become historic documentation of what life was like. As Constable and Turner, became artists of eras, the remaining clothing has also ended up in various museums as art in the practical sense. Then there is always the Warhol school of thought that anything or even everything can be art if taken out of context. I am referring to the famous can of a certain brand of soup picture, that is so famous.
Granted this is only my point of view, other people may totally disagree with me, and that's fair enough. There will be others that totally agree but prefer a completely different shoe brand. But for me its Kandee and their choice in design and even their concept of marketing it, naming it after candy hence the name. Like people dream of owning a Van Gough or even a Porsche 911 for the reason it is a piece of beauty they want a part of, I dream of owning some Kandees, my favourite's are the Caramellos of a previous range. But like anyone who truly appreciates the art form of their choice, they will get what they can even if it isn't their favourite. I have never know a person turn away from a Porsche Boxster just because they really want a 911RS, if that is all they can afford they will take the Boxster. It is a case of gaining their choice of art at the level they can. You can guess from this my chosen art form of car by this, but I use this to explain the point from various angles.
At the end of the day I believe you can find art in anything you choose, for me in the modern world it is very much cars and shoes. But I totally understand if others find art in other things. For now I will leave you with this thought. Art is in the eye of both beholder and artist, if you find beauty and happiness in it then it is art. This along with a Porsche is mine.
Hmm I wonder who the friend was who told you about these amazing shoes * looks innocent*
